Process Characteristics

Metallurgical and salt-bath service combines high temperature with aggressive corrosion. Molten salt and molten metal attack the protection tube severely, and an ordinary thermocouple loses service life very quickly under these conditions.

Common Challenges

• Molten salt and molten metal corrode protection tubes severely.
• Temperature gradients and thermal shock are large during charging and tapping.
• Maintenance windows are short, so replacement must be fast and simple.
• Sheath material selection directly determines service life.
