Technical Specifications

The operating principle of the gas-purged thermocouple is to form a gas path between the MI thermocouple sensing element and the outer protection tube. An inert gas at a certain pressure is introduced into this path to expel or reduce the ingress of reducing gases under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. The addition of a trace amount of tantalum improves the gettering property of the gas-purged thermocouple, thereby extending the service life of the MI thermocouple. It is an indispensable temperature measuring device in 300 000 t/a ammonia synthesis plants.
