Generally refers to the static external pressure that the protection tube can withstand at room temperature without rupture. The permissible working pressure depends not only on the protection tube material, diameter and wall thickness, but also on its structure, installation method and the flow velocity and type of the measured medium.
The electrodes of a thermocouple are made of two different conductor materials. When a temperature difference exists between the measuring junction and the reference junction, a thermoelectric EMF is generated, and the indicating instrument displays the temperature value corresponding to that EMF.
The RTD measures temperature by means of the characteristic that the resistance of a substance changes with temperature. When the resistance value changes, the indicating instrument displays the temperature value corresponding to that resistance.
For thermocouples, at an ambient temperature of 20±15 °C, relative humidity not exceeding 80%, and a test voltage of 500±50 V (DC), the insulation resistance between the electrode and the outer sheath shall be ≥ 1000 MΩ·m. For RTDs, at an ambient temperature of 15–35 °C, relative humidity not exceeding 80%, and a test voltage of 10–100 V (DC), the insulation resistance between the electrode and the outer sheath shall be ≥ 100 MΩ.
